We are often asked “Who is Prothesia (pronounced  like amnesia)?” Prothesia Palmer Smith was our grandmother, who fled England to avoid the attentions of a shipbuilder (he helped build the Titanic). He followed her to America, won her over. She was a very stylish lady.

We moved to the Cape in 1999 for the wide beaches, salt air,  and special feeling you get driving along Route 6A. We opened a shop in Yarmouthport in the garage of our historic sea captain’s house. When it grew out of its space we moved the shop to another historic old cape in Dennis.
